There isn’t a soul on this earth exempt from having to make a decision. Writing this blog was a decision. Pretty much everything we do on a regular basis is executed whether it be done using a lengthy thought process or a choice that seems almost involuntary, one made on auto-pilot if you will. Nevertheless, both are decisions and regardless of your personal situation, however dire it may seem at times, they require each of us to answer yes or no.
I go on this tangent because I find that I will have a number of difficult decisions to make in the coming months. Most of these will relate to family, some to friends as well as other facets of my life. I don’t relish having to make them. They don’t excite me. They don’t give me the urge to jump up and down. They will drain me mentally and I expect that, but as I have and always will do…I will render a decision and be accountable for the outcome.
What irks me in relation to others is how often people tend to pass the buck and avoid responsibility for a conscious decision. If you are drunk and have sex with someone else (probably drunk also), you have made a decision to do this. Therefore if a woman becomes pregnant as a result of this, both parties should be accountable for the decision they’ve made and carry it out to term and care for the child whether their relationship flourishes or crashes.
Passing the buck is something done in the workplace as well. I’ve seen it time and time again. When a big project is shown to have a flaw in it or a production goes south…there is always someone that is trying to cushion the blow or slink away from the situation in an attempt to remove themselves from the issue at hand. On occasion, it can be the decisions you DON’T make that hinder you more often than the ones that you do.
For anyone that reads this blog, please do yourself a favor: Think before you act and be accountable for the choices that you make. Because if you do that in a virtuous manner, you’ll always be able to look at yourself in the mirror with pride knowing that you did what was right. That’s all I’ve got for now. Hope to blog with you all soon.
Signing off,
